An impression of the Marc Cornelissen Brightlands Award Ceremony at January 20.
The theme of the award ceremony was "Dream, Dare, Do".
Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 situation, it was not be possible to visit the award ceremony physically, as was the case with previous editions. Just a few attendees were present, as the finalists, jury, and a representation of the board, board of trustees and Marc's family. An inspiring and varied online program was provided with in particular the three nominated candidates in the spotlights.

The three nominees were:
Werner Schouten (Youth Climate Movement)
Cara Augustenborg, Irish-American environmental scientist, climate change lecturer, writer and activist based in Ireland, who participated in the Ben&Jerry's Climate Change College together with Marc Cornelissen. View her contribution that touched everyone in the audience.
Bart Knols, the winner of the Award 2018 will look back to what the award brought to the Malaria project and to him as sustainability pioneer.
Ar-Jane is the stage name of Arjanne Beukers, a 20-year-old singer-songwriter from Geleen who is studying at the Rock Academy in Tilburg. She won the regional final 046. Ar-Jane will perform several songs, her vocal and piano in harmony.
Robbert Dijkgraaf, Director Institute for Advanced Study Princeton (IAS), Robbert Dijkgraaf is Director and Leon Levy Professor of the Institute for Advanced Study, one of the world’s foremost centers for curiosity-driven basic research, located in Princeton, New Jersey. In addition to directing the Institute, Dijkgraaf is a renowned scientist, mathematical physicist, distinguished University Professor at the University of Amsterdam, an effective communicator and teacher, a leader in science policymaking and a trained artist.
The Marc Cornelissen Brightlands Award 2021 was presented to the winner Panos Kouris by the Commissioner of the King of the Province of Limburg, Theo Bovens.
