Are you, or do you know a true sustainability pioneer who deserves this award and could use €35.000 to help realise a more sustainable world trough ground-breaking research, a sustainable solution or a disruptive innovation?

The candidate profile for the Marc Cornelissen Brightlands Award:
The Marc Cornelissen Brightlands Award is intended for candidates who set themselves apart in keeping with the spirit of Marc Cornelissen in their collaborative leadership and cross-border partnerships to make our world more sustainable.
Contribution to a sustainable world specifically refers to initiatives that contribute directly to areas such as the (bio) circular economy, climate change, the food, health and energy transition.
Ideally, candidates should be driven by a dream for sustainability and not be afraid to deviate from the normal paths in looking for solutions. They should be “in transit” as Marc was and encourage others to join them. At the same time, they are aware that their work and people-oriented personality has an impact not only on what they do, but also on how they achieve results. Relying on more conventional types of funding also makes it hard for them to realize their dream.
Five reasons to apply
As finalists from previous editions of the event have exclaimed, “It’s more than worthwhile to apply.” In their view, there are at least five reasons you should apply:
As a winner of the award, you will receive a cash prize of €35,000 as well as a sculpture and a certificate.
You will be challenged to take your project to the next level to achieve your sustainability mission.
You will attend the inspiring and engaging award ceremony and networking event along with many sustainability experts and partners of the foundation.
As a semi-finalist or finalist, you will benefit from media exposure and visibility on the sustainability scene.
Together with all of the candidates, you will be part of this sustainability pioneering event, giving you the chance to enrich your project thanks to a tailored program featuring Brightlands community scientists, entrepreneurs and students.
